Fundraising

The Directors of the LSCC Benefit Fund have a long-range goal of growth in the principle of the Fund investment account, therefore increasing the annual amount available for the Senior Emergency Medical Program.

  • Benefit Fund holds an annual "Spring Evening" fundraiser to support its long-range goal. All net proceeds from the event go directly to the fund. Our cookbook, Senior Treasures, a collection of recipes from the participants, staff and volunteers at the Senior Center. The cookbook is full of delicious recipes, representing hundreds of years of cooking experience!
  • As medical costs continue to grow beyond the normal rate of inflation and the aging population continues to grow in Fayette County, the LSCC Benefit Fund will work for the growth of these funds as well as to enhance our presence in the senior citizen community.

A board of directors for the funds was assembled and began meeting in 1997. Articles of Incorporation and bylaws were drawn up, the fund was approved for a private non-profit status, 501 (C)(3) in May 1998, and the Benefit Fund was born.

The Directors of this group opted to leave the principle of these fund in a conservative growth account and to use the interest income from this fund for two purposes. Forty percent of the annual income is to be spent upgrades and program at the Senior Center that are currently covered by their budget. Sixty percent of these funds are designated for the Senior Emergency Medical Program (SEMP).
